CESFO is a research centre at the University of Southern Denmark, which focuses on the significant part of Danish Business life that consists of small and medium-sized companies. CESFO's research is based on close cooperation between researchers at the Universtity of Southern Denmark, regional business and consultancy companies and licensers on one side and an international research network on the other.
The centre's core competencies are within the main areas;

- Small and medium-sized companies' markets and internationalization
- Innovation and regional business politics
Thus the bearing for CESFO's activities is both to contribute to continued theory development and at the same time play an active part as knowledge ressource for the small and medium-sized companies in Denmark. This means that CESFO's research is mainly empirically based and it often includes companies and consultants in the development af research relevant problems.
