Thomas Schøtt visited the Faculty of Entrepreneurship, University of Tehran and held a lecture on ” The Effects of Social Networks on Entrepreneurship Development”. He encouraged the students to respond and created an interactive session in the college conference room; the session proved to be very productive.
Thomas started first with a short introduction of entrepreneurship; then he went on to talk about the benefits of creating an entrepreneurial society, the GEM approach and the framework conditions for GEM research. The main focus of his presentation was the special GEM working group in which five countries are participating (Brazil, Denmark, Iran, Korea and Latvia). Dr. Schøtt presented the working group’s results and research approach. Students were especially interested in culture differences between Iran and Denmark.
One of the conclusions was that family ties for Iranian entrepreneurs are much more important than for Danish entrepreneurs. In general, it was a successful presentation with interesting results.
