As a new student, especially being far from home, life is exciting, but maybe also a bit scary. We would like to help you feel at ease with the your studies.
Housing
The University of Southern Denmark generally guarantees housing to all international students moving to Denmark to study, if you apply before the application deadline 1 May/ 1 November. You must apply online at "Kollegiernes Kontor". Read more about housing in Sønderborg here.
Residence permit for EU/Non-EU citizens.
Studies over three months require a residence permit.
As a service to our EU citizens, we each year in early September invite the Regional State Authoritiy to the University. Once the residence permit has been granted, it will be sent to the University, where you are able to pick it up before applying for your CPR number at the Municipality. For the Autumn semester, we invite the Municipality to the University. You need you to fill out a form and choose a General Practioner from this list before applying for the CPR number.
Transportation
We recommend that you buy a bike for your transportaion needs.
As a student you can bring your car to Denmark and use it up to two years with your foreign license plates. Please note that you cannot drive your car for more than 185 days per year if you bring it. You must register your car. To find information on the rules and complete the form, go to: Application for permit to drive a foreign registered car in Denmark
