University of Southern Denmark merged with National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) 1 January 2007. The national institute of public health is located in Copenhagen and is the University of Southern Denmark's sixth campus. NIPH do research in a various range of topics.
Primary purpose:
- Do research into the health and morbidity of the Danish population and the functioning of the health care system with special emphasis on application-oriented research
- Carry out monitoring and surveillance of the health and morbidity development of the Danes
- Make reviews and consultancy for public authorities
- Participate in post-graduate education within public health science and social medicine.
The research is organised in 6 research programmes:
- Child health
- Health behaviour, lifestyle and living conditions
- KRAM-survey (diet, tobacco, alcohol and physical activity)
- Alcohol
- Register-based research (diseases, injuries and other health problems)
- Public health in Greenland
