Every year the University of Southern Denmark holds its traditional Annual University Festival on the first Friday in October.
The banquet begins, as traditional, with speeches by the Vice-Chancellor and a student representative along with a gala lecture. This is followed by the awarding of doctorates and honorary doctorates as well as the presentation of the prize for research dissemination and awards for teaching excellence. This is all interspersed with contributions from the University of Southern Denmark’s chamber choir. Once the official business is over, there is a reception, and the celebration spreads throughout the entire university on Campusvej, with around 2,000 guests, staff and students sitting down to enjoy the banquet. Yet more students arrive during the course of the evening, as various bands strike up for dancing.
