Are you on your master programme? Do you want to prepare yourself in the best way for the Danish labor market and your upcoming career? Then you may be interested in participating in in the Career and Network course. The aim of the course is to prepare international students to find internships during their master degree programme and to find employment in Denmark after graduating.
Through a combination of lectures, discussions and exercises we offer a 5-day-course that focuses on networking, job search and individual assessment of competences. Throughout the course you will meet various companies and representatives from the Danish business sector that are interested in hiring international students. The course is concluded with firstly, visits to a number of companies in the region, which is an excellent possibility to try out your acquired networking skills and secondly, through an innovation camp in which newly founded companies in cooperation the IDEA Entrepreneurship Centre in Odense “employs” you to solve a specific tasks that can help the companies.
The Career and Network course is in English but open for both international and Danish students.

Programme:
Day 1: Wednesday, February 27th from 17.15 – 21.00
Job seeking strategies – clarification of competences – how to write job applications and CVs in Denmark.
Through a combination of lectures, discussions and exercises we will take you on a guided tour through the Danish job seeking process in order to prepare your for finding an internship and a job in Denmark.
Which competences do you possess that qualifies you for applying for a job in Denmark? How do you approach a company? How do you write an application and a CV according to Danish standards? What do you need to be aware of when looking for jobs in small and medium sized companies?
Day 2: Wednesday, March 6th 17.15 – 21.00
Networking as part of your career.
If you network with the right people and in the right way, you can achieve the knowledge,
you need – the contacts and information, you wish – and the projects and jobs you really
want to work with.
At this mini course, Charlotte Junge, the author of several books on networking, will show you how Career and Networking are closely combined and give you input and tools to make your own Networking strategy for your future career. You will be presented to Charlotte’s networking mindset and networking method. You will also get practical input and advice on how to handle different networking channels. Furthermore you will get practical tips and tricks for your future networking.

Day 3: Wednesday, March 13th from 17.15 – 21.00
Cooperate and reach your goals.
A successful business is not created by individual drive alone. You need to explore and utilize not only your own competences but the competences of other people with different approaches to solving a problem. During this lectures you will be prepared in how best to cooperate with other people with a different academic background than yours towards a common goal that creates an output for a company. This day is a preparation for the Innovation Camp, which takes place on the last day of the Career and Network course.
Day 4: Wednesday, March 20th from 9.50 – 16.00.
Utilize your networking competences when visiting three different companies in Odense that are interested in international students.
Remember to be on time in order to catch the bus. The agenda for today is as follows:
09.50: Departure from campus in Odense. We meet at the main entrance.
10.30 – 12.00: Tour and presentation of Exhausto (

12.00 – 13.00: We drive to our next destination and stop for lunch on the way.
13.00 – 14.00: Tour and presentation of Inwatec (
www.inwatec.dk).
14.00 – 14.30: We walk to our next destination, which is close by.
14.30 – 16.00: Tour and presentation of CT Coin (
www.ctcoin.dk).
16.00: We drive by the train station on the way back to the university.
Day 5: Wednesday, April 3rd from 16.00 - 20.00
Innovation Camp with start-up companies.
Private as well as public employers are increasingly looking for employees who have the ability to combine academic knowledge and insight achieved through higher education with the competency to transform and apply this knowledge so that it makes a difference to others. The purpose of the course is to train the student in converting his or her existing subject knowledge to specific activities that create value for others, thus developing new ideas that can form the basis of a new company, a new business area or a social activity.
Representatives from different start-up companies will introduce you to their individual company, mission, values and strategy. Afterwards you will be divided in smaller groups and your job is to generate business ideas for these companies.
