January 30th: Orientation Day for all international students in U45
The purpose of this orientation is to ease your stay here at the university and prevent unnecessary misunderstandings. It is therefore very important that you join us in
U45 for the following program:
09:00 Welcome by the International Office
09:05 Presentation of Kim Bæksgaard Hansen (International student advisor)
09:15 Presentation of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN)
ESN will introduce the board and present the activities ESN will host throughout the semester.
09:30 Practical information from the International Office
The International Office will inform you about:
- Residence permits for EU citizens
- Registration at the National Register (all nationalities)
- Transportation in Odense
- To whom do you direct your questions etc.
- Introduction to the Accommodation Office
10:00 Break - Coffee and tea will be served.
10:30 Introduction to the Faculties and to the academic part of your stay by the Academic Student Advisors.
Students will be divided according to the faculty they are enrolled at. The advisors will cover areas such as:
- Methods of teaching at SDU
- How to register for exams
- Types of examinations
- Structure of the faculty, and where to go with your academic questions
- Email accounts and computer labs
- Blackboard/e-learn
- Tour of the faculties
- Room U44: Faculty of Science
- Room U48: Scandinavian Area Studies
- Room U110: Faculty of Social Sciences
- Room U43: Faculty of Humanities
- Campus Square at 10.30 am: Engineering
Please note that the Faculty of Engineering has its own Orientation Days on Monday January 30th and Tuesday January 31st.

You will receive a lot of valuable information, so make sure to be in U45 at 9:00 am.
January 31st: Application for Residence Permit for EU citizens
Staff from Regional State Administration, which is where EU citizens apply for residence permit, will come to the University to collect residence permit applications. The 2 staff members will be in U27 from 8.30 – 11.30 a.m.
08.30 – 09.30 a.m.: students to the Faculty of Engineering.
09.30 – 10.30 a.m.: students to all other faculties than the Faculty of Engineering.Please be prepared in advance:
- Fill in the application form
Please leave out appendices A, B1 and B2 as they are not necessary for the application.
- Bring 1 passport sized photo
- Bring a copy of your passport or your national identity card
- Bring a copy of your enrolment letter

Without the above mentioned preparations you cannot apply for a residence permit.
Non-EU citizens can go straight to the National Register as they already have a residence permit when they enter Denmark.
The Erasmus Student Network will be in U28 from 8.30 on January 31st. It will be possible to sign up for membership and activities.
The National Register, The Regional State Administration and "Lær dansk" will come to the university on February 13th. More information will follow separately.
