The Danish seven-point grading scale will apply from 1 September 2007. But what significance does it have for you?

In future, your examinations will be assessed under the new seven-point scale instead of the 00-13 grading scale.

Why change?
The Danish 00-13 scale is difficult to compare with the grading scales in other countries. It will now be easier. The new seven-point scale is comparable to most scales in the world, for example the ECTS scale, which also has seven points. This means that you can more easily be accepted at a foreign university – and can have both Danish and foreign grades on the same degree certificate.
New study scheme and new grades
While the grading scale is being changed, all boards of studies are also busily changing all the curricula. And at the same time, the rules for grading are also being changed. Descriptions of objective are being set up for all subjects – and in future the grades will be given relative to the degree to which you as a student meet the subject’s description of objectives.
What will your final diploma look like?
A grade of 9 will, for example, become a 7. But your grade will be just as good as it has always been. And foreign universities and employers will be able to understand it.
All your grades according to the 00-13 scale will also appear on the degree certificate.
What about my average if I want to apply for admission to a foreign university – or look for a job abroad?
Your average will be converted in accordance with information on the Cirius website.
For example, if you have an average of 8.7 under the 00-13 scale, it will be 7.5 under the seven-point scale.
More information?
Now you know 95% of what’s worth knowing about the new seven-point scale, but if you still need more information, talk to Vejledningscentret (the SDU Counselling Centre, this page is in Danish only) or you can find mere information on the Cirius website.
