Welcome to the University of Southern Denmark in Odense!
We are happy that you have chosen our university as your study abroad destination. The following information will be regarding to your arrival and initial stay in Odense and at the University of Southern Denmark.
When to arrive?
You must ensure that your arrival is approximately one week before the official study start, so you can manage to settle in and participate in the introduction days held by the University.
Welcomming Commitee
You will be met on arrival by our Welcoming Committee who will have the key for your room (if you have been offered accommodation by the University and your room is available when you arrive. Your key is not available until the date you can move in).
The Welcoming Committee will be able to answer questions about practical matters. They will welcome you next to the railway station in Odense on the 1st floor of the hotel Cabinn between 3 pm and 8 pm from August 24 to August 29. If you come sooner than this, you cannot expect the Welcoming Committee to be available, but it is possible for you to pick up the key at the Accommodation Office at the University of Southern Denmark between 9 am and 3pm from Monday to Friday.
Introduction Days
The International office organizes "Orientation Day" for all new students. The purpose of the orientation day os to ease your stay here at the university and prevent unnecessary misunderstandings. It is therefore very important that you participate.
The faculties may organize introduction days. Please find your faculty here and see if they have planned special introduction days.
ESN and buddies
Buddies are students from the University of Southern Denmark who work as contact persons for international students in coordination with Erasmus Student Network (ESN).
ESN Odense is your gate to a social network in your new city. We are looking forward to meeting you and spending a lot of fun moments with you. Click on this link to see your welcome flyer and get an idea about who we are and what we do for you. As our website is being updated these days, you might have trouble accessing it. Therefore please find us on Facebook if you need to ask us any questions before your arrival :) We have created a Facebook group for you called ESN Odense Fall 2013.
Furthermore a buddy can help you take care of practical matters; introduce you to (student) life in your new home town, introduce you to life at Campus etc. If you are coupled up with a buddy.
You receive information on your buddy in early August or early January. At this point you will also have the chance to let us know, if you are not interested in having a buddy.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that all new international students are coupled up with a buddy if there is a shortage of buddies.
