Please be aware that you cannot apply for a PhD position until you have found a main supervisor affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark.
The PhD secretariat does not facilitate the contact with potential supervisors.
Admission to the PhD programme is based on a completed master's degree programme, or another relevant degree, which concludes a research-based study programme of minimum five years duration at an institution of higher education.
For applicants who do not have a master's degree, the faculty makes an individual assessment of the academic prerequisites. For instance, applicants who have a professional bachelor's degree and a subsequent two-year postgraduate degree can be admitted to the PhD programme.
If the qualifying degree is from an international institution, the faculty can require that the education be assessed by the Danish Agency for International Education. In this case, the received assessment must be followed, when estimating whether the applicant's qualifications qualify for admission.
For international - non-Scandinavian - applicants, we require high-level English language skills, oral as well as written. The faculty can require that a language test is successfully passed. Approved tests are: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
The Graduate School assesses the applicant's qualifications, the scientific quality of the proposed project, the adequacy of the supervision, and the project’s funding.
The assessment of the applicant’s qualifications focuses specifically on the applicant’s previous research experience as documented for through publications.
However, every applicant is given an individual assessment, where supervisors’ statements will also be taken into consideration.
