The building stock is growing but why is there a decrease in electricity, water and heat consumption?

Electricity consumption, Water consumption & Heat consumption
Here are four explanations of why the area has increased without energy costs increasing correspondingly:

|
1. All the incandescent light bulbs on Gydehutten have been replaced with modern fluorescent tubes. Voilá! That brought the electricity consumption down to a third, and at the same time the light intensity has become three times stonger.
2. Paint! Gydehutten has been brightened by painting the dark aubergine-coloured doors white. This increases the light intensity and lowers the electricity bill. In other areas e.g. in the basements and in several office corridors the lights turn off automatically when there is no activity in the room.
3. All offices used to have air registers. It was expensive and resulted in a poor indoor climate. Over the last four years the air registers have been replaced with more energy-friendly radiators.
4. The roof insulation is now 25-30 centimetres instead of the previous 5 centimetres. This means we can economize the heating during winter, and at the same time we avoid that solar heating in summertime makes the buildings so hot that we are tempted to use ventilators.
