Synopsis
- Overview of mass spectrometry based analytical strategies in protein chemistry and proteomics research
- Overview of protein characterization, modifications and processing
- Introduction to MALDI and ESI Mass Spectrometry and various mass analyzers.
- Enrichments of proteins and peptides carrying post translational modifications such as phosphorylated peptides
- Sample preparation methods for MS, including the use of custom made chromatographic columns with reversed phase, graphite and IMAC and TiO2 resins.
- Determination of post-translational modifications by mass spectrometry
- Various strategies for quantification of peptides, like SILAC, iTRAQ and label free and the following data analysis strategies.
- Extracting information from MS/MS spectra. Computational data analysis and protein sequence analysis.
Teaching format
The course is in English
The course is structured as follows:
- Oral presentations (10-14 hours)
- Laboratory exercises/practical’s (18 hours)
- Computational data analysis (8 hours)
Evaluation
You will be evaluated passed or failed with an internal examiner.
