NOTE: The 24/7 reading room in Odense is closed from Friday October 5th 12.00 to Saturday October 6th 8.00 due to the University's annual celebration.
SDUB has 24/7-reading rooms at Campusvej in Odense and in Sønderborg.
24/7-reading rooms are open around the clock and give students the opportunity of staying at the library after it closes so they can study whenever it suits them.
There are two 24/7 reading areas in Sønderborg for students and other users. A quiet reading room with individual desks or a computer room, which is also used for studying. Entrance is gained to both of them via ID card outside the library's normal opening hours.
At Campusvej, the 24/7-reading room is located on the first floor by the main entrance in close contact with the information room and the library's collections. The reason for this initiative is the growing demand for study zones at SDUB, which has also resulted in a doubling of desks especially assigned to students preparing dissertations. The 24/7-reading room has 49 reading desks. It is a ’mixed zone’ with both desks for group work and individual work. Sound condition measures take into account the requirements of both group work and quiet concentration.
Dissertation desks can still be booked for six months a time giving students the opportunity of keeping their books and materials close at hand – and peace and quiet for studying. Please contact Dorthe Søndergaard Andersen [ dsa@bib.sdu.dk ] to make a reservation.
The 24/7 reading room gives the library more capacity and greater flexibility with regards to its service.
During SDUB’s opening hours access is as usual (at the main entrance to the library or the Northern and Southern entrances). Outside the library's opening hours, students and staff at SDU have access via ID card and PIN code at the entrance to the 24/7-reading room.
There are no computers in the 24/7-reading room but there is wireless net. The wireless printer in Atriumgården is available for use. All the reading desks have power plugs for laptop/notebook computers.
Ther are 16 lockers in the room at the entrance to the 24/7-reading room. They can be used for a month at a time. The Lending Department administrates the keys.
For disabled persons: Users of wheelchairs or other disabled persons can use the lift, which has an entrance from Gydehutten. The keys for this lift are administrated by the Lending Department for a month at a time. There is an automatic door opener into the reading room itself. Disabled persons can use the toilet on the middle floor. The lift is not for use for persons without a disability.
