This collection contains medical and scientific Scandinavian doctoral theses. It includes mainly Danish theses from 1840-1970, but also has some Scandinavian. The collection is not complete. From 1970 to 2000 both medical and scientific theses are included with an almost complete coverage. From 2000, the collection is incomplete for universities outside Denmark. From 2002 the collection is also incomplete for Danish universities. The collection takes up 300 meters of shelves and includes ca. 28.000 titles.
Availability
Most of the collection has not been registered but unregistered titles will be registered in the library's catalogue when they are lent out. The collection is stored in closed stacks but can be borrowed according to SDUB's normal borrowing rules.
Background of the collection
The collection was originally put together by Odense Centralbibliotek, but at the end of the 1960's, Odense University Library took it over and for many years attempted to put together a complete collection of Scandinavian medical and scientific doctoral theses. During recent years university theses are increasingly available as full text documents via university library websites on the Internet.
