Rules of thumb:
Maps and atlases are to be found at different locations.
In Odense:
- in the Information Room
- in the Reading Room
- among the books for loan
Keep in mind:
- If you need to look something up quickly in an atlas.
You can use the map collection in the Information Room in Odense.
- If you need a more detailed map of an area.
You can use the map collection in the Reading room in Odense.
- If you need historic or special maps.
Start with the map collection in the Information Room in Odense but remember that these maps might also be located under their respective subjects.
- If you want to borrow an atlas.
General atlases available for loan in Odense are located under the shelf mark: N(y),
and can be borrowed according to the normal borrowing rules.
Maps located in the Information Room in Odense are available for overnight loan.
- The classification marks in Odense are N(y) (geographical maps) or K(y) (historic maps).

There are also map sheet series for many other European countries and a few other countries.
There are also some special maps (typically historic) and big atlases that are located in the Reading room due to their format.
