The book collection is extensive. The main groups for German are:
- Ff tysk sprog (German language)
- Gf tysk litteratur (Books about German literature)
- Hf tysk skønlitteratur (German literary texts)
The books at the department in Odense are to be found in the northern end of the library's open shelf book collection and in the "magasin" (closed stacks). There are also books on the subject at Sønderborg. About 250 new titles are purchased each year and book suggestions are very welcome (please send them to the subject specialist using the electronic form).
You can make request for books not found at the library by using the electronic request form. The library will then try to borrow them from another library.
Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft
The most important online bibliography on German studies covering language and literature in German speaking countries from 1985 to the present. The title records are suppled with references of many types, primary literature includes review information. The database's strength lies in the area of literature. Standard work for German literature after 1945. Gives information about contemporary authors - their lives and work. (Only access at SDU and remote acces)

Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog KVK
Global library database developed as a common project between Universitätsbibliothek Karlsruhe and Universität Karlsruhe. Reguarly updated with other countries' library databases (for example, Denmark, Norway and Sweden) and is excellent for subject searching.

Ordbogen covers many languages and also includes a Danish-German and a German-Danish.

Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books (eBooks or etexts). You should be aware of the fact that the archive is not based on scientific, textually criticized editions but on freely accessible texts on the Internet. This means that there can be errors and omissions.
