1) What am I allowed to use access to electronic material for?
You may print and download material to a reasonable extent and for your own use. Systematic download is not allowed.
You may use remote access for personal research and study use. This means that you are not allowed to use remote access in connection with a study job, work placement, etc. Your password is strictly personal and must never be given to anyone else.
Misuse will result in disciplinary sanctions
2) Search tips
-
Finding a journal: If you are looking for a particular journal, you can see in the library's
Catalogue, if we have it either in a printed or electronic form.
-
Finding an article: If you are looking for articles, then you should use the library's bibliographies, databases and journal databases, which you can find
here.
-
Finding references: If you have a reference and would like to know if the library has an electronic version, you can use
Citation Linker. If we don't have the article online, you will be given the opportunity to make a request for it.
3) What do I do if my remote access doesn't work?
If you have installed a firewall on your computer and haven’t opened port 2048, the error message ”The page cannot be displayed” will appear when you click on enter after filling in the fields in the login box. The problem is solved by opening the port in question
- If the page with electronic journals or the page with Databases cannot be displayed, then open port 9003 and 8331 respectively
- The browser Safari cannot be used in connection with remote access. Use Firefox or Explorer instead
- The browser must accept cookies
- Delete temporary Internet files and cookies in the browser. Select Tools => Internet options => Delete files… / Delete cookies.
4) What do I do if a database or a journal doesn't open up?
A few databases and journals require the installation of a Citrix Client. Click on
beside the titles when you have retrieved them via Databases or Electronic journals and you will see if you need to have a Citrix Client on your computer. See Installation instructions. The first time you use a Citrix Client a box will pop up. Select ”Full Access” and ”Never ask me again” and click on OK. If your computer has a firewall, you will also need to open up port 1494 in order to obtain access via a Citrix Client.
5) When is access dependent on a password?
Access to some databases requires a password. Click on
beside the title when you have retrieved it via Databases or Electronic journals and you will see if a password is necessary in order to obtain access. Contact one of library’s lending departments in order to log in.
If you are asked to log in on the homepage of a journal, which doesn’t require a password, then you have probably tried to gain access to something that the library hasn’t purchased access to. In the case of journals you can see, which volumes there are access to by looking the title up in the library’s catalogue or by clicking on the
-button, when you have retrieved the title via Electronic journals.
