Gain knowledge about product development, construction, automation, and project management

Are you creative and good at collaboration? Do you want to design and construct the industrial products of the future? Then the Mechanical Engineering degree might be something for you. As a mechanical engineer, you help develop innovative, industrial products, such as robots, which can help ensure a sustainable future.

In addition, you gain skills to be able to solve specific problems in an innovative way, act as project manager for interdisciplinary projects, solve complex mechanical engineering development tasks, design products, plants and systems and much more.

What will I learn?

You learn, in creative and systematic ways, to construct and control machines for e.g. robot-based production systems. In mechanical engineering, you learn to plan and realize projects, while at the same time gaining an understanding of the design of industrial products. The technical aspects must be in order, which is why you have basic subjects such as mathematics, physics and materials science, which give you a good and fundamental understanding of technical and natural science issues.
On the course you learn about product development. The training emphasizes that you include all the factors that are important for the development of new products. The conditions could be the user's wishes and expectations for the products, user-friendly design, production methods and calculation of strength ratios, durability, economy, etc. When the products are to be designed, it is important that you can both draw in 3D CAD as well as make models and test prototypes in the workshop.

You gain engineering knowledge that, among other things, enables you to construct mechanical and thermal systems, automate processes and carry out advanced strength calculations. The education emphasizes innovation, where welfare technology, sustainability, environment and business development are also in focus.

How is the programme structured?

During the programme, you will work a lot in project groups, where you and your fellow students will solve problems for companies through case-based work.
Each semester is based on a main theme, which becomes the basis for the semester's theory and project work. In the first part of the programme, you work with product development and in the last part of the programme, the focus is on the work concerning the engineering disciplines, which includes the environment, economics, and business management.
In the 6th semester, you will have a mandatory internship in a company. The internship can be spent in Denmark or abroad. In the 7th semester, you will carry out a graduation project - often in collaboration with a company. 

What can I become?

The programme provides you with several career opportunities - both in Denmark and abroad. You will be able to work as a project manager, development engineer, product developer or with the design of machines and plants. You can, for example, work with the development and construction of everything from large plants to products and production equipment in various industries such as the pharmaceutical industry, the wind turbine industry, offshore, power plants, food production, refrigeration industry.

Can I continue my studies?

A BEng is an independent, completed programme. So, after the 3½ years, you are a graduate engineer and ready to start your engineering career.
If you want to immerse yourself further, you can continue your studies and, for example, study a MSc in Structural Engineering.
