British Thoracic Society
The British Thoracic Society is the official body of respiratory specialists. Its core functions are: The relief of respiratory and associated disorders by the promotion of the highest standards of clinical care and the undertaking of research into the causes, prevention and treatment, and disseminating the results of such research. European Respiratory Society
The mission of the ERS is to serve its members in promoting respiratory medicine in Europe in co-ordination with national societies. Today, the congresses of the ERS is Europe's biggest annual scientific gathering in Respiratory medicine. The ERS creates and supports task forces which address specific problems of lung health in Europe. The European Respiratory Journal is the official publication of the ERS.
