Teaching portfolio for Lone Grønbæk Kronbak
Pedagogical Philosophy:
As a provider of research based teaching, I find it important being updated with the latest material in the fields, where I teach. This is to keep up the good spirit and involvement in the teaching. To me research based teaching is not only what is relevant to my research but also presentation of other researches work.
To me a good teaching is qualified, engaged and open minded. Qualified in the sense that the teacher should be updated and have high technical knowledge about the material. Engaged such that the teacher should identify oneself within the field and open minded such that there is room and motivation for questions and elaborations when needed, always keeping the entirety in mind.
I find it important to change my way of teaching dependent on whether the students are undergraduate, graduate of doctoral students. Traditionally, my teaching plans and notes for undergraduate students are more detailed while for graduate and doctoral students I make higher demands to the students that they engage in the teaching and that they themselves accumulate knowledge within the field.

In addition to my university teaching, I have experience from presentations for larger groups of secondary school students and from providing a course for teachers at secondary school.
Teaching Methods:
My experience is that variation between using the blackboard and PowerPoint presentations works very well. Writing on the blackboard interaction with the students and the PowerPoints, which are always available electronically before the lectures, gives the students clearly written notes that they can add on to.
I use the elearn platform ‘BlackBoard’ actively by posting my lecture plan, my PowerPoints, any announcements and exercises. In addition, I use BlackBoard for making self test for the students, providing them the possibility to check whether they have understood the material.
For illustrative purposes, especially for the undergraduate students, I use experimental games, ‘classroom games’ with my students. For graduate and doctoral students I normally ask the students to present some of the material themselves.
Exercises are varied between being calculated on the blackboard or in the computer room.
Curriculum- and Study Planning:
I have participated in development of the curriculum for the Bachelor of Science, Environmental Planning Environmental and the Master of Science, Environmental and resource management.
I am the subject leader for the following courses: Environmental Economics (international undergraduate students), Miljøøkonomi (in English: Environmental Economics) (B.Sc, Environmental Planning), Evaluation (M.Sc., Public Health). in addition, I have participated actively in developing new courses.
Teacher-Training:
I have completed the 2006 Teacher-Training Programme for Assistant Lectures at the University of Southern Denmark.
