Research areas:
The group is currently engaged in the following research areas:
- Productivity analysis, main area of interest being "Data Envelopment Analysis"
- Network modeling and vehicle routing
- Production planning and supply chain management
- Optimal control theory and differential games
The research is most often based on business economic problems, i.e., problems relating to planning and decision making within a single company, with consideration to the company's relations to its environment (e.g., competitors, suppliers, customers, public authorities etc.).
The research includes both development of methods (particularly within productivity analysis and network modeling) and application of existing methods within the context of optimization maths and game theory, e.g., within production planning and optimal control theory.
The research is characterized by an extensive use of mathematical modeling, development and application of optimization maths (both analytical as well as numerical methods) and advanced computational tools.
The research is both analytically and practically oriented. The department has been involved in projects concerning planning within, for example, public schools, banks, and hospitals.
