Welcome to the Third Nordic Conference on Adult Learning 22 - 24 April 2009 in Denmark
The conference is a meeting-place for nordic researchers, but we hope to see researchers from a wide range of countries and from different corners of the world. And we hope for contributions covering a broad range of research interests and contexts. The conference is a sequel to the Nordic conference on adult learning 2005 in Turku, Finland and the Nordic conference on adult learning 2007 in Linköbing, Sweden.
We welcome participants who are researching all kinds of aspects of adult learning and education in formal, non-formal or informal settings, popular education, higher education, workplace learning, in short lifelong and life-wide learning.
We have invited key-note speakers who are prominent scholars on the international scene also representing the world outside Europe.
Researchers in Nordic countries have developed strong links for good reasons. Organised learning activities for adult have been a prominent feature in our countries for a long time, and Nordic research has established a strong position. Yet, we need to strengthen our links, to communicate and collaborate in order to elaborate research and understandings of the phenomena we research. We need to enhance creativity trough communication and collaboration in research on adult learning, also in an international perspective. The Nordic conferences on adult learning are a significant step in this direction.
Most of the conference time is allocated to paper sessions in order to emphasise and focus on research. The workshops will be organised in consideration of the theme of the conference: communication, collaboration and creativity. The paper-presentations will be peer-reviewed.
The conference will be hosted by The Institute of Philosophy, Education and Religious Studies, University of Sourthern Denmark and will take place at a very central and quite beautiful Danish location by the sea, the conference centre, Byggecentrum in Middelfart.
