Folkesundhedsvidenskab som forskning og uddannelse beskæftiger sig med ny viden og evaluering inden for sundhedsfremme og sygdomsforebyggelse, vurdering af befolkningens sundhedstilstand og sundhedstjeneste- og socialtjenesteforskning.
Institut for Folkesundhedsvidenskab ved Københavns Universitet
Instituttets formål er at varetage forskning, undervisning og rådgivning inden for sine fagområder. Folkesundhedsvidenskabens opgave er at skabe et videnskabeligt fundament for arbejdet med at forbedre befolkningens sundhed. Forskningen omfatter befolkningens sundhedsstatus, tiltag, der skal forbedre befolkningens sundhed og samfundets indsats til reduktion af sygelighed og dødelighed. Forskningen er tværvidenskabelig og udføres af forskere med baggrund i sundhedsvidenskab, naturvidenskab, samfundsvidenskab og humaniora.
Klinisk enhed for Sygdomsforebyggelse
På hjemmesiden fandtes en database med detaljerede oplysninger om forebyggelsen på de danske sygehuse. Databasen blev etableret efter en undersøgelse, der blev foretaget i år 2000 i samarbejde med Netværk af forebyggende sygehuse i Danmark, Sundhedsministeriet og Amtsrådsforeningen. Enheden er nu nedlagt!
Statens Institut for Folkesundhed
Statens Institut for Folkesundhed er et sektorforskningsinstitut under Sundhedsministeriet. Instituttets formål er at gennemføre forsknings- og udredningsopgaver vedrørende befolkningsgruppers sundhedsforhold og sundhedsvæsenets funktion samt at bistå offentlige myndigheder med forskningsbaseret rådgivning inden for de nævnte områder.

Folkesundhed.dk - webstedet for sundhedsfremme og forebyggelse
Webstedet indeholt regeringens folkesundhedsprogram i sin fulde længde samt nyheder og kalender over begivenheder med relevans for programmet - fra ministerierne bag programmet, fra amterne og andre aktører. I biblioteket findes en samling af materialer, der relaterede sig til folkesundhedsprogrammets 17 mål. Nyhedsarkivet havde nyheder om folkesundhedsprogrammet, som var bragt på hjemmesiden samt tidligere udgaver af den nyhedsmail, som sendtes ud hver 14. dag.

SciDev.Net news, views and information about science, technology and development
SciDev.Net is a network devoted to reporting on and discussing those aspects of modern science and technology that are relevant to sustainable development and the social and economic needs of developing countries. The project is based on the premise that those who stand to benefit most from modern science and technology are also those who have least access to information about it. The goal is to provide a focal point for both authoritative information and informed debate on these issues.

WHO Atlas Project
Mental disorders account for a substantial proportion of disease disability and burden, yet current resources for mental health are not adequate. Project Atlas was launched by WHO in 2000 in an attempt to bridge this gap. Analyses of the global and regional data were compiled and presented in the publication - Atlas: Mental Health Resources in the World and the mental health resources in each country along with additional analyses was presented in the publication - Atlas: Country Profiles on Mental Health Resources. The web-based format is designed to make the information more dynamic and interactive. Information can be accessed and maps, tables and charts including country profiles can be generated according to one's choice. The data including the generated analyses can be printed and used.

Fysisk aktivitet - håndbog om forebyggelse og behandling
Sundhedsstyrelsen har udarbejdet FYSISK AKTIVITET - håndbog om forebyggelse og behandling. Publikationen indeholder dokumentation for at fysisk træning, udover at fremme sundheden og forebygge en lang række sygdomme, også er effektiv i behandlingsøjemed. Håndbogen er skrevet af professorerne Bent Saltin, Bente Klarlund Pedersen m.fl.
Motionsmanualen
At ordinere motion på recept har den klare fordel, at patienten med recepten i hånden får anvisning på en hensigtsmæssig form for motion i den rette dosis altså individuelt tilpasset patientens fysiske og psykiske forudsætninger. Akkurat som var der tale om en medicinsk behandling. Manualen er udarbejdet af læge Leif Skive, og den er ledsaget af ordinationsprogrammet Motion på recept.
Viden- og evidens i forebyggelsen
De senere år er der for alvor kommet fokus på arten og kvaliteten af den viden, som sundhedsfremme- og forebyggelsesarbejdet bygger på. Når man nu taler om evidensbaseret forebyggelse, er det udtryk for et ønske om, at arbejdet skal hvile på et så solidt grundlag som muligt. I antologien "Viden og evidens i forebyggelsen" beskriver syv forskellige forskere, hvordan netop deres forskningsdisciplin bidrager til forebyggelsens vidensgrundlag, og hvilke krav man kan stille til kvaliteten af den forskning, der anvendes.
